Regarding Berkouwer’s De Triomf Der Genade in De Theologie van Karl Barth, Barth has this to say in CD IV.3.1: “I can only join in according it the recognition which it has won in many different circles on account of its wide range of knowledge and reading, its perspicuous and penetrating mode of exposition and the sharpness and balance of its criticism.” In the preface to IV.2, Barth referred to Berkouwer’s De Triomf Der Genade as a “great book on [Barth] and the Church Dogmatics.” He adds, “For all its reservations and criticisms this work is written with such care and goodwill and Christian aequitas” (xii).
